Event Description

 An Education for the Future

The aim of Waldorf Education is to educate the whole child: head (thinking), heart (feeling) and hands (doing). Our curriculum meets or exceeds all the Ministry of Education standards and balances academic subjects with artistic and practical activities. By freely using arts, crafts, music and movement in the service of teaching academics the child develops an internal motivation to learn.

Our teachers are all B.C. Certified and dedicated to creating a genuine love of learning within each child so they become confident, independent thinkers who respond to the world with compassion and creativity. Our school strives to awaken capacities rather than to impose intellectual content on the child. In this way learning becomes an engaging voyage of discovery both of the world and of oneself.

About Christine Martin (Administrator)

(on the right) After graduating from University of Western Ontario, Christine Martin travelled for 16 months through the South Pacific, Asia and Europe. Upon returning she secured a sales position with Warner-Lambert Canada in Toronto. After a year she went into marketing, followed by account management. In 1994 Christine requested to be transferred to Vancouver and was promoted to Area Sales Manager for Western Canada. When her second daughter was born, she left Warner-Lambert to focus her attention on a new born child and a 2 year old.  While Christine was home with the girls, she read about Waldorf Education and became very inspired by it. In 2000 Christine, along with a small group of other parents, came together to create a Waldorf school in Squamish. In the fall of 2000 Christine enrolled in the Waldorf Early Childhood Teacher training program through the West Coast Institute of Anthroposophy and subsequently received my Independent School Teaching Certificate from the Ministry of Education. Christine taught kindergarten and filled the role of administrator for 7 years.  In 2010 she moved into full time administration. For Christine, teaching and working in a Waldorf school is very rewarding.  When she is not doing school work she loves to spend time with family, ski and mountain bike.
